Abstract
결론
칫솔질의 필수적인 도구로 사용되는 칫솔을 위생적으로 관리 보관하기 위하여 항균성이
강하면서 인체에 해가 없는 은을 재료로 사용하여 새로운 살균기능을 가진 칫솔을 개발할
목적으로 본 실험을 하였다. 실험의 필요성을 확인하기 위하여 일반 칫솔사용자를 대상으로
설문조사를 하였으며, 은의 항균성을 재확인함과 동시에 은을 재료로 새롭게 개발할 칫솔에
대한 항균력이나 살균효과를 실험한 것으로 그 결과를 다음과 같이 얻었다.
1. 칫솔에 세균의 존재여부를 물은 설문에서 20대와 30대의 응답자 83%이상이 상당히 많
거나 세균이 많다고 대답하였다. 40대는 60%이상이 많다고 답하였다. 그리고 칫솔을 살균할
필요가 있는가의 설문에는 응답자 의 전 연령대에서 80∼97%가 살균해서 사용할 필요가 있
다고 대답하였다.
2. 99%이상의 순은 금속을 그램양성의 검정균인 Bacillus subtilis IFO3007,
Staphyloccocus aureus JCM2413에 대하여, 그램음성균 Escherichea coli A-19에 대하여 항
균력 확인 실험을 하였다. 그 결과 모든 검정균에 대하여 뚜렷한 저지대를 보이는 것으로
확실한 항균력을 확인 할 수 있었다.
3. 은을 이용하여 새로운 칫솔을 개발하기 위한 시험을 하였다. 칫솔의 재질에 은을 도금
하여 그 위에 대표적인 검정균 Staphulococcus aureus JCM2413와 Escherichia coli A-19를
도말하여 10시간동안 상온에 보관하여 살아남은 균수를 검정하였다. 그 결과 은을 도금하지
않은 칫솔에 도말한 세균수는 104∼105cells정도로 그대로 살아
있으나 은도금한 칫솔에 도말 된 세균은 모두 사멸하였다.
4. 은도금 칫솔과 도금하지 않은 칫솔에 도말한 세균의 시간경과에 따른 사멸변화를 조사
한 결과도말 6시간만에 은도금 칫솔에 도말한 세균은 완전히 사멸하였으나 도금하지 않은
칫솔에 도말한 세균은 약 6∼7×105cells이나 살아 있는 것을 확인하였다. 그
러므로 은도금 칫솔을 사용할 경우 칫솔질 후 6시간 후에 칫솔질하면 살균된 매우 깨끗한
칫솔을 사용할 수 있다는 결론을 얻었다.

As the result of examining the antibacterial activity of silver Gram positive bacteria
Bacillus subtilis, Stapylococcus aureus and Gram negative bacteria Escherichea coli,
these all tested bacteria showed their clear inhibition zone, that is, evident antibacterial
activity. Bacteria-clearing elect of silver-coated and noncoated toothbrush were tested by
the measure of the number of survived bacteria on the spreading the bacteria on
toothbrushes. These were 6×105cells in the bacteria spreaded on the
toothbrush not coated with silver, whereas, all the bacteria spreaded on the toothbrush
coated with silver became extincted. It has been confirmed that the bacteria spreaded on
the toothbrush coated with silver became exterminated after 6hours.
Accordingly, it is considered that the silver-coated toothbrush should certainly become
the important material in developing the bacteria-clearing hygienic toothbrush.
