As the result of examining the antibacterial activity of silver Gram positive bacteria
Bacillus subtilis, Stapylococcus aureus and Gram negative bacteria Escherichea coli,
these all tested bacteria showed their clear inhibition zone, that is, evident antibacterial
activity. Bacteria-clearing elect of silver-coated and noncoated toothbrush were tested by
the measure of the number of survived bacteria on the spreading the bacteria on
toothbrushes. These were 6¡¿105cells in the bacteria spreaded on the
toothbrush not coated with silver, whereas, all the bacteria spreaded on the toothbrush
coated with silver became extincted. It has been confirmed that the bacteria spreaded on
the toothbrush coated with silver became exterminated after 6hours.
Accordingly, it is considered that the silver-coated toothbrush should certainly become
the important material in developing the bacteria-clearing hygienic toothbrush.
